GOLF PROGRAM
THE FIRST (+ SECOND) DISC GOLF COURSE IN ZAMBIA
Thanks to Eagles Wings Disc Golf and the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA,) Macha Sport + Learning Project (MSLP) was able to introduce disc golf to the Macha community with a 9-hole course in 2016. As interest in the game grew, another 9 holes were added to complete the first 18-hole course in the country. Beyond having the facilities to play, MSLP has one full time employee and two-part time employees committed to teaching + growing the sport. Wilborn, Quincy, + Kagawa are found coaching kids and adolescents each weekday afternoon - using the sport as an opportunity to mentor and encourage young people in the community in all areas of life.
In 2022, a second 9-hole dicc golf course was built in a neighboring community and the goal is to add another 9 holes and complete the second 18-hole course locally. Through PDGA endorsed annual tournaments, adult tag rounds, and afternoon lessons, the community (most especially the children) have found a love for the game that brings them to the course(s) every single day of the week.
